Classes: Classes

When can I arrive to class & what shall I bring?

What shall I bring to class?
Please bring your own mat if you have one. We do have some spare mats to borrow on the day if you do not have your own. Yoga bricks are available to borrow during class & their use is explained during the class. Again, if you do have your own Yoga brick or any other additional props you are more than welcome to bring them along. Some students really like to have a blanket or towel to provide additional padding for the knees in kneeling postures &/or for Savasana/relaxation at the end of class. A bottle of water is also a good idea to keep hydrated during & after class.
Arrival time
The best time to arrive is 5 minutes before the start time. This allows you enough time to set up in your space beforehand & let me know of anything, such as if you have a recent injury or need additional assistance or support. Please seek a doctor/ professionals advice before attending if you are unsure. You are also welcome to let me know before class if you have any concerns or need further information. I will be setting up the room from 10-15mins before the start time so please allow a short window of time for myself & the caretaker to come into the room & assess the safety & other requirements before entering.

What are classes like?

We explore the physical & energetic practices of Asana (postures) & pranayama(breathwork) within our friendly community classes, with a little humour & curiosity thrown in too! Postures are held for a short space of time, (maybe 3-5 breaths or more) which allows for a good foundation, building knowledge & body awareness & exploration of alignment principles. There may also be some gentle flowing movements incorporated into the class. Classes have a mainly physical component, although relaxation is an important element both within the asana practice & separately at the end of class. Katy guides you through all aspects of the  classes which are suitable for all levels with beginners being very welcome. And although Katy guides the class you have full autonomy of your body & the way you wish to practice, with adjustments & modifications offered & Props are explained along the way. You are free to leave out or modify the poses if/when necessary. We take into account that we are all uniquely different and therefore explore our own unique expressions of the postures, working within our own healthy boundaries, using the body & breath as a guide. Please seek the advice of a doctor, physiotherapist or medical professional before attending class, particularly if you have any conditions & advise Katy prior to class. The more we can understand the particular requirements & needs beforehand then the more we are able to support these during the class, so you are more than welcome to discuss these further prior to the class itself.

How do I book classes?

Please book all classes via our website on the booking page. You will find all the upcoming classes on the schedule, so you can book individual classes ahead or time or on the day if available or block book a group of classes at a discounted rate.
